Ankle pain can occur due to a number of causes including sporting injuries such as ligamnet sprains and strains, tendonitis and athritis.
The ankle needs to be examined to determine if it is a ligament, muscle/tendon or joint problem.
Treatment can include:
- Hands-on treatment such as massage/soft tissue techniques to reduce swelling
- Strapping if required
- Mobilising/stretching exercises to improve movement
- Strengthening exercises to assist rehabilitation and prevent further injury, including balance exercises
- Modalities to reduce pain and swelling
